Durham, NC

The Perley A. Thomas Car Works, High Point, NC provided trolley cars for the various lines operated by Duke Power Co. and is predecessor companies. This illustration depicts the plan drawing for an 8-car order placed by the Durham Public Service Co. The cars were built in 1923-1924 and were virtually identical to the cars ordered about the same time by Southern Public Utilities Co., another Duke Power subsidiary, for operation in Charlotte. Perley A. Thomas also provided similar cars for the famed Desire Street and St. Charles St. lines in New Orleans.
