Norfolk & Western Class A steam locomotive #1218

Above photos show the huge drivers on #1218 and a Southern Railway logo that was on its side when the photo was taken.
The logo may have been affixed by a railfan or perhaps by the N&W for some historic reason. Does anyone out there have any information on this?
