Locomotives of the Carolina Southern Railroad

Photos by Phil and Karla Lafferty

The Carolina Southern Railroad [CALA] is the 1995 successor to the Mid Atlantic Railroad of the ex-CSX line from Whiteville to Mullins. CALA also operates the line from Chadbourn NC to Conway SC. A division of the Baltimore & Annapolis Railroad). The photos below were taken at Chadbourn. The locos depicted here, as is the case with many shortlines, are former mainline locos. Little effort has been made to repaint the locos in a consistent color scheme. Click on an image below to see its full sized version.
